Review #82 Maker's Mark: Bourbon

Score: 7.2 / 10

Distillery: Maker's Mark

Type: Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon

Maker's Mark, part of Jim Beam, has been starting to do a lot of interesting things ever since the Maker's 46 came out in 2010. However, this go around we are just looking at the flagship bottle itself. Is it any good? We get that question all the time. The true answer is, yeah it's ok. It along with Jim Beam kept a company running for 60 years after it's initial release in 1958. It was also good enough for Juggernaut Suntory to buy the company. So yeah it's solid for the money. Is it great overall. one of the most Iconic and best whisky brands on the market

If you have not had this, you have to pick it up. There is no way to get into bourbon and especially wheated bourbons if you have not had the Whisky. After that you can get creative with anything else you try after your roots are in the ground. It's still my favorite mixer hands down. Sweet and hot with a nice raisin touch. What's not to love?

Whiskey Review:

Nose: Very sweet upfront. Vanilla, Caramel, ethanol, strawberry. Strawberry is a note i looked up on breaking bourbon years ago and I still smell it every time.

Palate: A bit chemically, slight plastic taste, nice raisin touch about midway through. Oak ramps up on the backend.

Finish: Short, very quickly fading. Mild at first. A little hot midway as some wheated bourbons are and cool off really fast. oak and raisin linger, but also fade quickly.

Score: 7.2

Scale:

Notes: Availability? Very Common - Literally can be bought anywhere. If you can't find this, you must be blind. In fact you probably can't even read this text right now.
